The Labour Party Nigeria has zoned its presidential ticket for the 2027 elections to the South, effectively ruling out Northern aspirants.
National Caretaker Committee Chairman, Esther Nenadi Usman, announced the decision, describing it as a clear policy direction for the party ahead of the polls.
She, however, stressed that the party will not impose any candidate, noting that whoever emerges will be decided through a democratic primary process.
Meanwhile, the party has postponed its ward, local government and state congresses, as well as its national convention earlier scheduled between late March and April.
The party says the shift is to allow wider participation in its ongoing membership re-registration exercise.
It also confirmed that a 45-member committee has been set up to oversee the congresses and convention once new dates are announced.
