The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has expelled Chief Ganiyu Kolawole Egunjobi and Azeez Yusuf over alleged anti-party activities and disloyalty to the party.
In a statement signed by the state chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the APC said the two men contested its 2026 House of Assembly primaries for Agege Constituencies I and II but lost their bids for the party’s tickets.
The party said they subsequently obtained tickets from another political party instead of accepting the outcome of the APC primaries or pursuing available avenues of redress.
The Lagos APC described the move as a violation of party obligations, saying their subsequent resignations from the APC were merely attempts to avoid disciplinary action.
It said the decision to expel them was based on Article 9(5)(II) of the APC Constitution, as amended in 2022.
The party also warned that Egunjobi and Yusuf no longer have the authority to represent, speak for, negotiate on behalf of, or conduct any business in the name of the Lagos APC or the national party.
The APC urged its members, supporters and the public to take note of their changed status and not deal with either man as an authorised representative of the party.
The party said it would continue to enforce its rules and maintain discipline as it prepares for the forthcoming elections.
