Atletico Madrid have advanced to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League after a 3–2 aggregate victory over FC Barcelona.
Barcelona secured a 2–1 win in the second leg at the Metropolitano, but it was not enough to overturn Atletico’s first-leg advantage.
Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman played a decisive role across both legs, with his contribution proving crucial in sending Diego Simeone’s side into the last four.
Barcelona dominated large spells of the second leg and scored twice to set up a tense finish, but Atletico held firm under pressure.
Speaking after the match, Atletico manager Diego Simeone praised his team’s resilience.
He said, “We knew it would be difficult against a team like Barcelona, but the players showed character and discipline to get the result over two legs.”
Atletico Madrid will now await their semi-final opponents as they continue their push for a first Champions League title.
