French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that France will deploy 85 specialist rescue workers to Venezuela following the devastating twin earthquakes that struck parts of the country, leaving widespread destruction and prompting urgent international assistance efforts.

According to Macron, the team will be sent “immediately” to support ongoing search-and-rescue operations in affected areas.

The French contingent is made up of highly trained personnel skilled in urban search, survivor location, and debris clearance, all critical in responding to collapsed buildings and trapped victims.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Macron expressed France’s solidarity with Venezuela and confirmed that the country would work alongside European partners to respond to the humanitarian emergency.

He noted that assistance would be guided by needs identified by Venezuelan authorities as rescue operations continue on the ground.

“France stands ready, together with its European partners, to provide assistance to the affected populations in response to the needs expressed by the Venezuelan authorities,” he said.

He also confirmed the immediate deployment of the 85 rescue specialists to support emergency efforts.

The earthquakes have triggered a large-scale humanitarian response, with emergency teams from multiple countries mobilising to assist in rescue operations, provide medical support, and help stabilise affected communities.

Reports indicate significant casualties and injuries, with many people still believed to be trapped under rubble as rescue efforts intensify.

International leaders and organisations have continued to express concern over the situation, pledging support as Venezuela grapples with the aftermath of the disaster.

France’s deployment adds to the growing global response aimed at saving lives and supporting recovery efforts in the hardest-hit areas.
