The Police Service Commission has  launched the recruitment for 50,000 police constables into the Nigeria Police Force as part of a nationwide manpower expansion approved by President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement, the commission said the exercise, conducted in partnership with the police, will begin next week and will prioritize transparency and merit. The PSC described the recruitment as a major step toward strengthening internal security and improving public trust in law enforcement.

According to the guidelines, the process is open to applicants for the General Duty and Specialists cadres.

General Duty applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, between 18 and 25 years old, and possess at least five credits in WASSCE, NECO, or GCE—including English and Mathematics—in no more than two sittings. Minimum height requirements are 1.67 meters for men and 1.64 meters for women.

Specialists, including drivers, mechanics, and medical aides, must have at least four credits in relevant subjects, a minimum of three years’ experience, and a Trade Test certificate. The age limit for this category is 28.

The commission said the portal will open on Monday, December 15, and close on January 25, 2026. Applicants are required to apply online, upload necessary documents, and print an acknowledgment slip.

The PSC warned the public to avoid fraudsters, stressing that the recruitment is free at all stages and that all shortlisted candidates will be announced through official channels only.
