The Nigerian Navy says its officers have arrested two human traffickers and rescued 18 victims en route to France.

The Navy’s spokesman, Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

He said the rescue mission took place at Rijiyar Lemu in Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State after a tip-off from a naval officer whose sister was being trafficked through Kano.

Two suspected traffickers have been arrested while others are at large.

The suspects and victims have been handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for interrogation, prosecution, and rehabilitation.
