Governors from Nigeria's 19 northern states will convene an emergency security summit this Saturday, November 29th, in Kaduna, in a decisive move to address the region's escalating security crisis.
The meeting, confirmed by the Nasarawa State Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Peter Ahemba, will also include prominent traditional rulers to develop a unified regional strategy.
“The meeting aims to develop a unified approach to tackling security concerns affecting the region and discuss the way forward on security matters,” Ahemba stated in a phone interview.
He assured that the forum would yield concrete results, noting, “Decisive decisions will be made during the meeting to ensure the region's security.” Emphasizing the role of citizens, he urged the public to “provide security agencies with relevant information about individuals with criminal tendencies.”

The summit comes as the northern region grapples with widespread incidents of banditry, kidnapping, and communal violence, putting increased pressure on leaders to formulate an effective and collaborative response.
