The Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) has passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring full support for his Renewed Hope Agenda and endorsing his 2027 re-election bid.

The decision was announced in Lagos after a joint meeting of the PGF and APC stakeholders, hosted by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and attended by 12 other APC governors.

Reading the communiqué, PGF Chairman and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma said the forum reviewed the economic, political and security situation in the country and expressed confidence in the administration.

“The Forum commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his steadfast commitment to stabilizing the economy, strengthening national security and laying the foundations of sustainable growth through the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Uzodimma said.
“This vote of confidence is an expression of appreciation to the President and belief in his administration.”

He urged Nigerians to remain calm despite ongoing security challenges, saying both federal and state governments are taking “holistic measures” to tackle threats nationwide.

The governors also pledged to step up interventions to cushion the harsh economic climate, promising support for food security, SMEs, youth employment and targeted relief for vulnerable households.

“Governors acknowledge the resilience and patience of Nigerians and deeply appreciate the sacrifices being made,” the communiqué read.

On security, the PGF praised improved coordination among security agencies and vowed to strengthen local security architecture and community-based initiatives.

“Safety of lives and property remains a non-negotiable obligation of government,” the forum said.

The meeting was attended by Governors Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Ahmad Aliyu (Sokoto), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Uba Sani (Kaduna) and Dikko Umar (Katsina).

Also present were Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, SSG Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, GAC Chairman Tajudeen Olusi and other APC leaders.

Uzodimma later urged APC stakeholders to intensify grassroots mobilisation.

“Go to the grassroots and spread the good gospel of President Tinubu’s administration so the progressive movement continues beyond 2027,” he said.

The governors reaffirmed their loyalty to the APC and pledged closer coordination with the Federal Government, National Assembly, local governments, civil society and traditional institutions. They also urged Nigerians to remain peaceful and hopeful as the year draws to a close.
