President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, as part of a decisive intervention to address the recent wave of violence in the state.
The President landed at the Tactical Air Command of the Nigerian Air Force Base, Makurdi, at about 12:58 PM and is expected to proceed to Yelwata, a community in Guma Local Government Area, which was the epicenter of a deadly attack that left many dead, scores injured, and several displaced.
While in Benue, President Tinubu will visit victims receiving treatment in the hospital and interact with families affected by the violence. He is also scheduled to meet with displaced persons and community leaders as part of efforts to foster healing and chart a path toward lasting peace.
Later, the President will preside over a stakeholder town hall meeting at the Benue State Government House Banquet Hall. The gathering will bring together traditional rulers, political leaders, security chiefs, civil society actors, and youth groups to develop coordinated solutions to the persistent security crisis, especially in rural farming communities.
The visit is seen as a show of empathy and a reaffirmation of the Tinubu administration’s commitment to protecting lives and restoring peace in the Middle Belt.
