Qatar has declared Iranian military and security attaches at its embassy persona non grata, giving them 24 hours to leave the country.

The move was announced by Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs after a meeting between Director of Protocol Ibrahim Yousif Fakhro and Iran’s ambassador to Qatar, Ali Salehabadi.

The ministry said the decision followed repeated Iranian actions targeting Qatar, which it described as violations of the country’s sovereignty and security.

Qatar added that Iran’s alleged aggression also breached international law, including relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, and violated principles of good neighbourliness.

The government warned that any continuation of hostile actions by Iran would prompt further measures and reaffirmed its right to take all necessary steps to protect national interests under international law.
