Defending champions Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been drawn into Group C alongside Zambia, Egypt and Malawi for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The 16-team tournament, expanded for the first time in its history, is scheduled to run from March 17 to April 3, with matches taking place across multiple cities in Morocco, including Casablanca, Rabat and Fes.

The Super Falcons, who won their 10th continental title at the last edition, will play their Group C fixtures at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.

Nigeria’s opening match against Zambia’s Copper Queens will rekindle a rivalry after their 5-0 quarterfinal win over the same opponents in the previous WAFCON.

The Falcons will also face Egypt, a regular competitor in African women’s football, and Malawi, which is making its first appearance at the WAFCON finals after historic qualification last year.

In other groups, hosts Morocco were drawn against Algeria, Senegal and Kenya in Group A, while former champions South Africa will meet Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and Tanzania in Group B.

Group D features Ghana, Cameroon, Mali and Cape Verde.

The tournament will double as a qualification event for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, with the top four teams earning direct spots at the global showpiece.
