The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed a terrorist attack on Tsamiya town, which left properties destroyed and a resident abducted.

The command said the attack occurred late on Saturday when armed assailants stormed the community, fired sporadically and set several structures ablaze, including a makeshift checkpoint belonging to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, a local brothel and the residence of one Sule Mai Goge.

It added that the attackers abducted a resident identified as Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare during the incident.

In a statement issued early Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said the Commissioner of Police had ordered the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to the area.

Usman said tactical teams were deployed to Tsamiya following the attack, adding that security agencies responded swiftly to secure lives and property in the community.

He said the command has launched a full-scale investigation into the incident and is working to rescue the abducted resident and track down those responsible.

The police assured residents of Tsamiya and surrounding communities that security operations would continue until normalcy is restored.

The command also urged residents to remain calm and vigilant while providing credible information that could assist ongoing efforts to apprehend the attackers.
