President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has opened the second National Economic Council Conference, urging stronger collaboration across all levels of government to drive inclusive growth.

Speaking at the event on Monday, Tinubu praised state governors and other stakeholders for what he called their commitment to Nigeria’s development goals.

He also commended the Central Bank of Nigeria, saying it has helped maintain macroeconomic stability, pointing to a steadier exchange rate and easing inflation. The president, however, noted that work is still ongoing to tackle liquidity challenges in the economy.

Tinubu said the conference theme, “Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable National Development,” reflects the direction of his administration’s reforms. He said the focus is on deeper federal, state, and local government coordination, stronger social investment programmes, and improved infrastructure and human capital development.

On security, the president promised renewed efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s forces against terrorism and banditry, describing the threats as “foreign” to Nigeria’s culture and a major barrier to economic progress.

Tinubu also revealed that the Renewed Hope National Development Plan 2026 to 2030 will guide the next phase of growth, with priorities including mechanised agriculture, dairy and livestock development, climate resilience, and private sector driven initiatives.

He urged state and local governments to ensure effective implementation, stressing that real impact must be felt by Nigerians at the grassroots.
