Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested suspected terrorist collaborators, recovered weapons and ammunition, and destroyed terrorist enclaves in Kaduna and Katsina States.

The operations, conducted on August 27 and 28, 2026, followed separate intelligence-led operations in the two states.

In Kaduna, troops of Sector 1 arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator found with two locally fabricated guns and 13 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag.

The suspect reportedly told investigators that he was tasked with delivering the weapons to another individual.

Acting on the information, troops arrested two additional suspects linked to the movement of the weapons.

The three suspects and recovered items are currently undergoing further investigation.

In Katsina, troops of Sector 2, supported by other security agencies, conducted a clearance operation around Maharba and Karaduwa in Matazu Local Government Area, destroying identified terrorist enclaves and structures allegedly used to support criminal activities.

Troops also destroyed an enclave linked to a notorious terrorist leader, Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, whose group has reportedly been terrorising communities in Matazu and Musawa Local Government Areas.

The terrorist leader reportedly escaped as troops advanced towards the enclave. An RPG-7 tube, motorcycle, mobile phones and other items were recovered during further exploitation of the area.

The Joint Task Force says the operations are part of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt the movement of weapons and logistics, and deny terrorists freedom of action across the North-West.
