The US Open semifinals promise intense battles as the chase for the 2025 titles enters its final stages
The 2025 US Open has reached the semifinal stage with top seeds booking their spots at Flushing Meadows.
In the men’s singles, top seed Jannik Sinner defeated his fellow Italian Lorenzo Musetti, securing his place in the semifinals. Felix Auger-Aliassime continued his sensational run, upsetting eighth seed Alex de Minaur in four sets to reach his first US Open semifinal.
Second seed Carlos Alcaraz advanced with a straight-sets win over Jiri Lehecka, while seventh seed Novak Djokovic overcame fourth seed Taylor Fritz in four sets. The men’s semifinals will see Sinner face Auger-Aliassime, and Alcaraz take on Djokovic.
In the women’s singles, defending champion and top seed Aryna Sabalenka advanced after Marketa Vondrousova withdrew. Fourth seed Jessica Pegula defeated twelfth seed Barbora Krejcikova to set up a semifinal clash with Sabalenka.
The other semifinal will feature eighth seed Amanda Anisimova, who upset second seed Iga Swiatek, against Naomi Osaka, who beat eleventh seed Karolina Muchova.
Off the court, Djokovic drew attention with a K-pop dance tribute to his daughter following his quarterfinal win. Anisimova’s victory over Swiątek marked personal redemption after her Wimbledon final loss earlier this year.
