Vice President Kashim Shettima has pledged that the Federal Government will intensify efforts to restore peace in Borno State, the North-East, and the country at large following a deadly bomb explosion.
Shettima made the assurance in Maiduguri while visiting survivors of the Monday evening attack, which killed more than 20 people and left over 100 others injured.
Condemning the incident, the Vice President said no religion supports the killing of innocent people, stressing that violence cannot be justified under any belief system.
“No matter how long the night is, it must give way to the light of dawn. We are eternal optimists, and we will work harder than ever before to see that total peace is restored,” he said.
Shettima said the Federal Government, through the National Emergency Management Agency, is providing immediate support to victims. He added that the North East Development Commission and the Borno State Emergency Management Agency, led by the deputy governor, are also supporting affected families and the injured.
He noted that officials were on ground, including volunteers and caregivers assisting victims, describing their efforts as critical in the ongoing response.
The Vice President assured residents that the government would not relent in its efforts until peace and stability are fully restored in Borno, the North-East region, and across Nigeria.
