The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) will kick off ward-level registration for the National Identification Number (NIN) across Nigeria on Monday, February 16.

The free exercise covers all Nigerians and legal residents, including children and adults.

The move follows a presidential directive to make registration more accessible, reduce travel, and encourage wider participation.

NIMC says state and local authorities, traditional leaders, and community groups will support the rollout to ensure smooth operations in every ward.

“This is a major step to deepen identity inclusion and bring registration closer to communities,” a NIMC spokesperson said.

Nigerians yet to register are urged to take part.

The full schedule and deployment details of NIMC staff and licensed partners will be available on the commission’s official website.
