The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says Nigeria will continue to vote where they registered until the National Assembly amends the law mandating that.

INEC’s National Commissioner, Festus Okoye, said this in an interview on Morning Crossfire on Monday.

Okoye responding to a caller who had asked that Nigerians be allowed to vote anywhere said, as of today “We (INEC) are just following the law.”

“ If tomorrow the law is amended, making it possible for people to vote wherever they are, we won’t have any problem with that. But as an electoral management body, we must remain within the confine on the law.”

Meanwhile, The INEC Commissioner has told Nigerians yet to receive their Permanent Voters Cards after registering or changing an existing one, should remain calm as it is being worked on and they will receive it within months.

“What we have done is that all people who have done continuous voters registration or transfer or corrected one information or the other, during the first and second quarter, we are cleaning up the data and the moment we finish cleaning up we will print their PVCs,” he said.
