The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has extended Easter greetings to Christians in Lagos and Ogun states, urging unity and vigilance.

In a statement released Saturday, Jimoh described Easter as a time that symbolises “victory over death, sin, and the promise of eternal life,” offering “hope and new beginnings to believers.”

He said the celebration should remind citizens of the need for “unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence,” urging residents to practice these values in their daily lives.

The police chief also assured residents that “adequate security arrangements” have been put in place to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Easter celebration across both states.

He said Commissioners of Police have been directed to intensify “patrols, surveillance, and visibility policing” in key locations, including worship centres, recreational areas, and major highways.

Jimoh advised the public to remain “law abiding” and vigilant during the holiday period, especially in crowded places.

He also urged residents to “adhere to traffic regulations” and report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through emergency numbers.

The statement stressed that security is a shared responsibility, calling on citizens to cooperate with law enforcement officers during the festive period.

Zone 2 Command said it is committed to protecting lives and property while maintaining order throughout the celebrations.

It wished all residents a “peaceful, joyous, and safe Easter celebration” as Christians mark the h

oliday.
