The All Progressives Congress (APC) has returned Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda as its National Chairman and Senator Ajibola Basiru as National Secretary following its national convention in Abuja.

The party confirmed the development after the convention held at Eagle Square, where a new set of national executives was unveiled to steer the affairs of the ruling party.

Yilwatda, a former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, continues in his role as chairman, while Basiru, a former senator representing Osun Central, also retains his position as secretary.

According to the party, the exercise is part of efforts to strengthen its internal structure and prepare for future political activities, including the 2027 general elections.

A statement on the outcome noted that the emergence of the executives reflects the party’s commitment to continuity and stability.

It added that the leadership team is expected to consolidate on existing structures and deepen party unity nationwide.

Other key officials were also announced across various positions in the National Working Committee, forming a broader leadership team to coordinate party operations at all levels.

Party stakeholders at the convention expressed confidence in the leadership, describing the process as a step toward strengthening the APC’s position as Nigeria’s ruling party.

The convention comes amid ongoing political realignments and preparations ahead of the next election cycle, with the APC seeking to maintain cohesion and expand its support base across the country.
