The National Industrial Court in Abuja has restrained the National Association of Resident Doctors from embarking on any form of industrial action starting January 12, 2026.

Justice E D Subilim issued the interim injunction on Friday.

The order bars NARD, its members and agents from strikes, work stoppages, go slows, picketing or any other industrial protest. It also stops any preparatory actions linked to such protests.

The injunction will remain in force pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice, which the court fixed for January 21, 2026.

The case was filed by the Attorney General of the Federation and the Federal Government of Nigeria against NARD, its president Mohammed Suleiman, and Dr Shuaibu Ibrahim.

NARD had earlier threatened to begin an indefinite strike from Monday over unresolved disputes with the federal government.
