Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced the price of aviation fuel, also known as Jet A1, from ₦1,750 to ₦1,650 per litre in a move expected to ease pressure on airlines and lower operational costs in Nigeria’s aviation sector.

The company announced the reduction on Monday, saying the decision was aimed at ensuring “uninterrupted fuel supply” and providing relief for airline operators struggling with rising costs.

In a statement by Dangote Group spokesperson Anthony Chiejina, the refinery also introduced a 30-day interest-free credit facility for marketers and airline operators backed by bank guarantees. The refinery further confirmed a shift from dollar-denominated pricing to a naira-based payment structure.

The company said the intervention is expected to “lower fuel procurement costs, improve operational stability, and support efforts to moderate airfares” across the country.

The development comes amid concerns from domestic airlines over the rising cost of aviation fuel, which operators say accounts for a major part of flight expenses.
