Suspected Boko Haram fighters have attacked communities in Borno State, killing five security personnel.
The Borno State Police Command says the attacks targeted an IDP camp in Damasak and the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters.
Police spokesperson, Nahum Daso, says one hunter was killed in Damasak, while four police officers lost their lives in Nganzai.
He says the attackers used heavy weapons, including rocket propelled grenades, but were eventually repelled after a gun battle.
The terrorists also damaged parts of the police facility, burnt an unserviceable armoured vehicle and destroyed about 20 houses in Damasak.
Security operatives, alongside local hunters and the Civilian Joint Task Force, have since restored calm, with additional personnel deployed to prevent further attacks.
