Former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has formally joined the 2027 governorship race in Kebbi State after securing the nomination form of the African Democratic Congress.

Malami also declared what he described as a “state of emergency on misgovernance” in Kebbi, accusing the current administration of failing to address insecurity, poverty and declining public services.

He said the state is facing serious humanitarian and development challenges, including high numbers of out of school children and widespread poverty.

According to him, insecurity has forced many farmers off their land, affecting agriculture and local businesses across the state.

Malami also raised concerns about the healthcare sector, citing poor maternal health conditions and limited access to antenatal care in rural communities.

He said his ambition is focused on restoring security, improving education and creating opportunities for young people.

The former minister added that his campaign would prioritise accountability and public service, insisting that Kebbi State needs urgent reforms to reverse its current situation.
