Tinubu Begins Three-Week Leave in Europe

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has left Abuja for Europe to begin a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave.

The presidency announced the trip Sunday, saying Tinubu’s first stop would be London, United Kingdom.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja today for Europe to begin a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave,” said Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser on information and strategy, in a statement.

“His first stop will be London, United Kingdom,” Onanuga added.

The president is expected to spend three weeks away from the country before returning to resume his duties.

According to the statement, Tinubu will return to Nigeria after what the presidency described as a “working vacation” to take part in campaign activities ahead of the January 2027 election.

“President Tinubu is expected to return home after the working vacation to join the hectic campaign for the January 2027 election,” Onanuga said.

The vacation comes as political activities increase ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission opened the campaign period for the election on 19th August.

Tinubu, who is seeking a second term on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, is expected to face several opposition candidates in the election.

The president’s trip also comes shortly after Vice President Kashim Shettima returned to official duties following an approved leave.

The presidency did not give details of Tinubu’s activities or exact destinations beyond London in the statement.
