Nigeria’s media industry is in mourning following the death of veteran entertainment journalist Clement Ige, who died at the age of 69.
According to reports, Ige died on Wednesday, 29th April 2026, at his residence in Soka, Felele extension, Ibadan, Oyo State.
He was widely known as a respected journalist, editor and media executive whose work helped shape Nigeria’s entertainment reporting over several decades.
He worked with major media organisations, and was regarded as a key figure in the industry.
According to reports, the late journalist had been dealing with personal loss following the death of his wife, Princess Ige, who passed away a year earlier.
Colleagues and associates have begun paying tribute to him.
A media executive, Femi Salawu, described Ige as “one of the people behind the scenes that made Sunny on Sunday 70th Birthday Concert happen.”
He added, “I attest to how he made it easy to communicate and relate with Baba KSA,” noting that the late journalist “was very resourceful.”
Ige was also known for his close working relationship with music legend King Sunny Ade, especially in media and event coordination.
He is survived by children and grandchildren.
His death marks the loss of a respected voice in Nigeria’s media space, with many remembering his contributions to journalism and the entertainment industry.
