Ghana’s Black Queens have progressed to the next round of the Women’s World Cup playoffs after a 2-1 comeback victory over Côte d’Ivoire.

Côte d’Ivoire made a fast start and took the lead in the 4th minute when Inès Konan converted from the penalty spot to put the Ivorians ahead.

Ghana responded strongly in the second half and found the equaliser in the 59th minute through Princess Marfo, who brought the Black Queens back into the contest.

The decisive moment came in the 72nd minute when Ghana were awarded a penalty, and Josephine Bonsu calmly converted to complete the turnaround.

Côte d’Ivoire pushed for a late equaliser but were unable to break through as Ghana held firm to secure the victory.

The result keeps Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup alive, as they move into the next phase of the playoffs.

The Black Queens will now look to build on this momentum as they continue their push for a return to the global stage for the first time since 2007.
