The Super Eagles have opened camp in London ahead of the 2026 Unity Cup, with striker Terem Moffi, goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo and 12 other players arriving early for the tournament. Nigeria, the defending champions, will face Zimbabwe in the semifinal on Tuesday at The Valley Stadium in London.

India and Jamaica will meet in the second semifinal.

According to team officials, the first training session took place Saturday evening at Cray Valley FC as coach Eric Chelle began preparations for the four-nation competition.

Among the players already in camp are Moffi, Okonkwo, Femi Azeez, Philip Otele and Tochukwu Nnadi.

Several Nigeria Premier Football League players also joined the squad, including Junior Ayobami, Michael Atata and Tosin Oyedokun.

Okonkwo’s invitation has generated major excitement among fans after the former Arsenal academy goalkeeper recently switched his international allegiance from England to Nigeria.

The 24-year-old enjoyed an impressive season with Wrexham, keeping 10 clean sheets in 39 league matches.

Millwall winger Azeez has also attracted attention after being voted Championship Player of the Season following an impressive campaign in England.

“The Unity Cup tournament is expected to provide the coaching crew with another opportunity to assess players and strengthen preparations for upcoming international engagements,” team officials said.

Coach Chelle’s squad selection has been widely viewed as an attempt to test new players while blending them with experienced names like Wilfred Ndidi and Moses Simon ahead of future AFCON and World Cup qualifiers.
