Governors Insisting on Usage of Old Notes Have Hidden Agenda -Caller

Several callers on Hard Facts with Sandra Ezekwesili weighed in on [day] on the recent development surrounding Nigeria's naira redesign policy.

The Supreme Court will on 22 February hear the notice of motion in a suit against the policy brought by the Kaduna State government.

The state had approached the apex court asking it to halt the 10 February deadline given by the CBN for the old notes to cease to be legal tender.

Katsina, Cross River, Ogun, Ekiti, Lagos, Ondo, and Sokoto States later joined as co-plaintiffs in the suit.

A caller on Hard Facts asked why the governors are insisting on the old notes "if they don't have an agenda with the old notes during the election?"

"How many fights did they fight for the fuel crisis, and how many battles did they fight when students were at home?" she asked.

Another caller wondered why the governors are not so bothered about the hike in electricity tariff.

According to her, "they are only bothered because it is affecting their plans for the election."
