Nigeria’s Super Eagles will face a stern examination on Saturday when they take on Tunisia in a crucial Group C encounter at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with head coach Eric Chelle and captain Wilfred Ndidi warning that the clash will be anything but straightforward.

Addressing a press conference ahead of the match in Fès, Chelle said the North African side possesses tactical discipline and experience that demand maximum concentration from his players.

He stressed that Nigeria must combine intensity with composure to overcome a team that has often proved difficult opponents at the continental stage.

Ndidi echoed his coach’s assessment, describing the fixture as a “tricky” one that will require collective effort and discipline.

The Super Eagles captain said the team is fully focused on the task ahead and determined to build on their positive start to the tournament.

Both teams opened their AFCON 2025 campaigns with victories and are level on points in Group C, making Saturday’s match pivotal in the race for early qualification to the knockout stages.

A win would significantly boost either side’s chances of advancing and potentially finishing top of the group.

Nigeria and Tunisia also share recent history at the Africa Cup of Nations, with the Carthage Eagles famously knocking the Super Eagles out in the last 16 at the 2021 edition.

That result remains fresh in the minds of Nigerian fans and players, adding extra edge to the Fès showdown.

With qualification stakes high and both sides keen to assert dominance in the group, the encounter - scheduled for 9 p.m. Nigerian time - is expected to be one of the standout fixtures of the AFCON 2025 group stage.
