Anambra 2025: 98% of Results Uploaded to IREV

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 98.04 percent of the results from polling units across Anambra State in the ongoing 2025 governorship election.

Checks on the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) as of 8 p.m. on Saturday showed that results from most of the state’s 5,720 polling units had been transmitted and were accessible to the public, leaving only a few still pending.

The upload marks one of the fastest result transmissions in a governorship election since the deployment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and IReV technology, both of which INEC says are central to improving transparency and public confidence in the electoral process.

Saturday’s election, which featured candidates from major political parties including the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the Labour Party (LP), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the All Progressives Congress (APC), was largely peaceful, though some polling units reported late arrival of materials and minor BVAS malfunctions earlier in the day.

Election observers such as Yiaga Africa, other civil society groups, and politicians noted that while there were cases of vote-buying, voting generally proceeded without major incidents.

INEC had earlier confirmed that voting and counting were completed in most local government areas before 4 p.m., after which presiding officers began uploading results to the IReV in real time.

The commission is expected to complete the upload of the remaining results before official collation begins at the state collation centre in Awka.

As of the time of this report, INEC had not yet declared a winner.
