The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to resolve its internal leadership crisis, rejecting allegations that it was involved in the court judgment that removed the faction led by former Senate President David Mark.
The APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, made the position known in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, November 6, 2026, following a ruling by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The party said it was neither a party to the legal dispute nor involved in the proceedings, insisting that the case arose from a leadership challenge initiated by ADC national officers against the David Mark-led faction.
The court, presided over by Justice Peter Lifu, reportedly removed the Mark-led leadership and nullified official actions taken by the faction, including its primary election processes and outcomes.
The APC said the legal challenge was brought by ADC officers who alleged that the party’s leadership had been taken over unlawfully.
It accused Mark and other party leaders of violating the ADC’s internal democratic processes in what it described as an attempt to advance former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ambition.
The ruling party also criticised the ADC for questioning the judiciary when court decisions go against it while praising the courts when judgments favour its position.
According to the APC, the ADC’s response to the ruling undermines the authority and independence of the judiciary, which it described as an essential institution in a democracy.
It advised the opposition party to pursue its constitutional right of appeal if it disagrees with the judgment, rather than accuse the APC of interference or make statements it said could incite unrest.
The APC further dismissed the ADC’s criticism as an attempt to shift responsibility for its internal crisis, arguing that the party should address its leadership dispute before seeking to govern Nigeria.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to preserving democracy, upholding the rule of law and supporting the Tinubu administration’s governance agenda.
The statement was issued by Morka, the APC’s National Publicity Secretary.
