Can The Danes Party Like It's 1992 At The EUROS?

Denmark reached the last four of EURO 2020 on Saturday after a 2-1 defeat of the Czech Republic in Baku.

Denmark reached the last four of EURO 2020 on Saturday after a 2-1 defeat of the Czech Republic in Baku.

Goals from Thomas Delaney and Kasper Dolberg, either side of a Patrick Schick strike for the Czechs handed the Danes a ticket to the semi-final against England at Wembley on Wednesday.

Having had a slow start to the tournament which began with back-to-back defeats to Finland and Belgium, Kasper Hjulmand’s side thrashed Russia 4-1 in Copenhagen in their final group game to seal progress to the Round of 16 in second place where they hammered Wales 4-0 in Amsterdam.

Victory over the Czech Republic means the Danes reach the last four for the first time since 1992 when they went on to lift the trophy defeating Germany 2-0.

Speaking after the game, Denmark coach Kasper Hjulmand said, "It's magical. The first thing I showed the boys when we met was a picture of Wembley when we were there in the autumn. I said that we were going to come back. It was like we were playing in a Danish stadium because our dedicated fans came to support us in Baku. We're deeply thankful."

Denmark becomes the first team to reach a EURO semi-final after losing their first two matches at the finals.
