Court Fixes November 20 for Judgment in Nnamdi Kanu’s Terrorism Trial

The Federal High Court in Abuja has again shifted judgment in the terrorism trial of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu to November 20.

Justice James Omotosho announced the new date after Kanu failed to open his defense, despite being given six days by the court to do so.

The judge said Kanu had been given enough time to present his case and couldn’t claim denial of a fair hearing.

Earlier, Kanu, who is representing himself,  told the court he wouldn’t enter any defense because, in his words, “there is no valid charge known to law pending against me.”

The prosecution, led by Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), urged the court to treat Kanu’s latest motions as his final written address and proceed to judgment.

But Justice Omotosho ruled that the filings would be considered during judgment and advised that Kanu could still seek legal counsel.

The case, which has dragged on for years, is now expected to reach a critical stage when judgment is delivered later this month.
