Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo has acquired a 25 percent stake in Spanish club UD Almería, marking a major step in his growing business interests within the sport.
The 41-year-old forward, who currently plays for Saudi side Al-Nassr, completed the investment through his company as part of efforts to expand his footprint beyond his playing career.
Almería are currently competing in LaLiga 2 and are pushing for promotion back to the Spanish top flight, LaLiga.
Ronaldo’s involvement is expected to boost the club’s global profile and commercial strength.
In a statement, Ronaldo said he has long wanted to contribute to football off the pitch, describing Almería as a club with strong foundations and significant growth potential.
Club officials also welcomed the development, expressing confidence that Ronaldo’s experience and global appeal will positively impact the team’s sporting and business ambitions.
The move places Ronaldo among a growing number of active players investing in football clubs as they prepare for life after retirement.
