The Nigeria Police Force, Enugu State Command, has reported the rescue of a kidnapped man on Saturday.
Enugu Police released a statement claiming they rescued the resident and recovered his car along with a firearm belonging to the kidnapping suspects after they fled the scene.
The rescue came after a tip to the police and an immediate response by the Anti-Kidnapping Tactical Squad.
The police public relations officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said officers moved quickly after a distress call about an abduction in the Awkunanaw area on Oct. 19.
The team found the victim alive, and the suspects had left behind their vehicle and a gun. No arrests were reported in the first statement.
Authorities described the operation as intelligence-led and said it showed the command’s commitment to fighting kidnapping.
The police asked anyone with information about the suspects to come forward so they can be arrested and charged.
