FG to Expose Terrorism Financiers as Tinubu Intensifies Security Crackdown

The Federal Government has announced plans to publicly expose individuals, groups, and financial networks funding terrorism across Nigeria

The Federal Government has announced plans to publicly expose individuals, groups, and financial networks funding terrorism across Nigeria

The Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, Daniel Bwala, said the administration is taking bold national security measures that Nigerians will soon witness in action.

“In the coming days, Nigerians will know who the terrorists are and those funding them,” he stated.

He explained that terrorism in Nigeria has evolved from local criminality into part of a broader international network, requiring coordinated efforts from global powers to dismantle these operations.

“Since 9/11, terrorism has been treated as a global security issue.

Any nation where terrorists operate becomes a concern to the world,” Bwala noted.

Highlighting shifts in extremist activity, he said, “Extremist networks that once held ground in the Middle East have moved towards the Sahel region, creating dangerous hubs threatening West African stability.”

This shift has increased international commitments to support Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts.

“The demand is now on world governments to cooperate with Nigeria,” he added.

Bwala emphasized that the Tinubu administration has intensified domestic intelligence and security operations aimed at disrupting terror financing channels within the country.

Addressing claims of genocide in Nigeria, Bwala dismissed them as unfounded.

He said respected global media have confirmed that violence in Nigeria does not target any single religious group, with both Christians and Muslims suffering attacks.

“President Tinubu is committed to protecting every Nigerian, regardless of faith or ethnicity,” Bwala assured.

He also pointed to expanded security deployments and intensified joint operations across conflict-prone areas as evidence of “real leadership backed by real results.”

In 2024, Nigeria publicly named 21 individuals and six Bureau de Change entities as financiers of terrorism, a move welcomed by security experts and civil society.

This list resurfaced in 2025 amid renewed global concern following remarks by US President Donald Trump.

Bwala’s announcement signals the government’s resolve to increase transparency and take decisive action against those undermining Nigeria’s security.
