FIFA Confirms Iran Will Play World Cup Matches in United States

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that Iran will participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and play their matches in the United States.

Speaking at the 76th FIFA Congress, Infantino dismissed concerns over Iran’s involvement, stating that the tournament plans remain unchanged.

He emphasised FIFA’s broader mission, saying, “The role of FIFA is to unite the world,” while reaffirming that all qualified teams will be allowed to compete.

Iran’s participation had been under scrutiny due to geopolitical tensions, with suggestions that its matches could be moved outside the United States.

However, FIFA has maintained its position, confirming there are no changes to the hosting arrangements.

The United States, Canada, and Mexico will co-host the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
