The All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje as its national chairman.
Ganduje, a former two-term governor of Kano State, stepped down from the role on Friday, citing a need to focus on his health and other pressing personal matters.
In a statement issued Friday night, Felix Morka, the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, said Ganduje’s resignation is effective immediately. The resignation letter was submitted through the party’s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru.
Morka added that Ali Dalori, the party’s Deputy National Chairman (North), has been appointed to serve as Acting National Chairman pending a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) scheduled for December.
The party praised Ganduje for his leadership and dedication during his tenure.
“Throughout his tenure, he dedicated himself to strengthening the party’s unity and cohesion, expounding its democratic ideals and enhancing the party’s electoral competitiveness,” the statement read.
The APC highlighted several achievements under Ganduje, including major defections into the party and court rulings affirming its internal leadership.
Ganduje assumed office as national chairman in August 2023 following the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu.
