The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has recorded 3,748,704 completed registrations following the conclusion of the second phase of its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
In a weekly update released in Abuja, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, said the exercise closed on April 17 after several weeks of nationwide activity.
According to her, the total figure includes both online and physical registrations. About 2.26 million Nigerians completed the process through the online pre-registration portal, while roughly 1.49 million finalised their registration at designated centres.
INEC described the figures as preliminary, noting that they are still subject to verification.
With the registration phase now concluded, the commission is shifting focus to the next stage—public display of the voter register for claims and objections.
The exercise is scheduled to run from April 29 to May 5 across the country, allowing citizens to confirm their details and report issues such as duplicate entries or ineligible names.
The CVR exercise is being conducted in phases ahead of the 2027 general elections. The first phase ran from August to December 2025, while the second phase began in January 2026.
INEC said it will announce the timeline for the third phase in due course, as it continues efforts to clean up the voter register and improve the credibility of the electoral process.
