Israeli naval forces have seized the Marinette, the last remaining operational vessel of the Global Sumud Flotilla, and detained its crew of six activists.
In a statement posted on X, organisers of the flotilla said Israeli soldiers boarded the Polish-flagged vessel and took the activists captive. They added that the livestream of the operation ended abruptly after a soldier smashed the camera.
On Thursday, Israeli forces attacked and seized vessels from the flotilla, detaining more than 450 activists from over 50 countries.
The flotilla was attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and challenge Israel’s 18-year blockade of the enclave, which is home to nearly 2.4 million people.
Since October 2023, Israeli bombardments in Gaza have killed more than 66,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, leaving the territory in ruins.
