The Lagos State Government has commenced the installation of new water pumps at the Iju Headworks and Akute Intakes as part of efforts to improve water production, strengthen distribution and expand access to potable water across the state.
The government said the upgraded pumps will enhance water abstraction and improve the operational efficiency of the Lagos Water Corporation, enabling it to deliver a more reliable and consistent water supply to residents.
According to the state government, the project is part of ongoing investments in water infrastructure under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's administration.
It said the initiative is designed to improve service delivery, meet the growing water needs of the state's population and increase access to clean and safe water for households and businesses.
The government added that the installation forms part of broader efforts to modernise Lagos' water infrastructure and ensure sustainable water supply for residents across the state.
