NDLEA Seizes Cocaine, Cannabis in Food Flasks, Arrests Suspects Nationwide

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (National Drug Law Enforcement Agency) says it has intercepted cocaine and cannabis hidden in food flasks, snack packs, and cargo shipments, while arresting multiple suspects in nationwide operations.

In Lagos, operatives at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport seized 2.80 kilograms of cocaine concealed in food flasks bound for the United Kingdom.

Two cargo agents and a freight forwarder were arrested.

In a separate case, officers intercepted 2.90 kilograms of “Loud” cannabis hidden in snack packs arriving from the United States.

A fashion designer, identified as the consignee, was later arrested in Ogba, Lagos.

NDLEA also destroyed more than 17,000 kilograms of skunk across farms in Edo and Cross River states.

In Cross River, operatives supported by soldiers raided a forest farm in Akamkpa, arresting a suspect and recovering large quantities of cannabis.

In Kaduna, officers intercepted a trailer carrying 847 kilograms of skunk concealed among cement bags.

The driver was arrested.

Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), praised officers for the coordinated operations, combining drug seizures with public sensitization campaigns.

He urged personnel nationwide to sustain the agency’s “War Against Drug Abuse” efforts, saying the fight against narcotics must remain consistent and aggressive.
