The Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) has announced a series of new appointments aimed at overhauling its secretariat and improving its operations.
The appointments, confirmed on Sunday, are part of a broader strategy to align the forum with international best practices.
According to Yunusa Abdullahi, the new Director of Media and Strategic Communications, the appointments will enhance the NGF's capacity in key areas, including human capital, security, the economy, and communication.
Abdullahi stated that the leadership changes were the result of a comprehensive review conducted by Deloitte, a firm tasked with re-engineering the NGF's processes. The goal is to strengthen the forum’s mandate as a central hub for subnational policy.
The new leadership team is headed by Dr. Abdulateef Shittu, who will serve as the Director-General.
Other key appointments include:

Mr. Edmund Nnaji as Executive Director, Finance and Administration. He is a legal practitioner with extensive corporate law experience.

Prof. Dauda Yinusa as Executive Director, Policy, Strategy, and Research. He is a former Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget, and Development.

Dr. Ahmad Abdulwahab as Executive Director, Programmes and Partnerships. He brings deep expertise in health systems reform and program management.

Chijioke Chuku as General Counsel and Head of Energy, is a seasoned lawyer with over 20 years of policy and legal experience.

Mrs. Hauwa Haliru-Hassan has been promoted to Director, Gender Affairs, and will also serve as Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum (NGSF).

Dr. Ibrahim Ahmad Katsina was appointed Senior Security Adviser, with three decades of experience in security and conflict resolution.
