Nigerians have been urged to brace for a temporary reduction in gas supply from February 12 to 15, 2026, as Seplat Energy Plc, a Joint Venture partner of NNPC Ltd and a major gas supplier to the national grid, carries out scheduled maintenance on key gas production facilities.

The maintenance, which will run for four days, is part of routine industry safety and asset integrity procedures aimed at ensuring the long-term reliability, efficiency, and safe operation of critical gas infrastructure.

The exercise is designed to strengthen operational resilience, sustain optimal system performance, and reduce the risk of unexpected outages in the future.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd, Andy Odeh, said the company is working closely with Seplat Energy to ensure the maintenance is executed safely and completed within schedule.
According to him,
- “NNPC Gas Marketing Limited is engaging alternative gas suppliers to mitigate anticipated supply gaps and maintain stability across the network.”

The statement further noted that the temporary reduction in gas supply into the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited pipeline network is expected to affect some power generation companies that depend on the supply, potentially leading to a modest drop in electricity generation during the maintenance period.

NNPC Ltd assured that full gas supply into the network will resume immediately after the maintenance is completed, allowing affected power plants to return to normal operations.
