The Police Council has endorsed Olatunji Disu as the substantive Inspector General of Police.
The council includes President Bola Tinubu, the governors of the thirty six states and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
The confirmation took place during a meeting at the State House in Abuja on Monday.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga said the session lasted about forty minutes.
He explained that the confirmation followed provisions of the Police Act 2020 which require the council to consider such appointments.
The meeting began at about 2:15 p.m. when the president arrived at the State House.
