The Police Service Commission (PSC) and Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have extended the deadline for the recruitment of 50,000 police constables by two weeks, following an overwhelming response from Nigerians.
The recruitment portal, which opened on December 15, 2025, was initially scheduled to close earlier but will now remain open until February 8, 2026, the PSC announced on Monday.
The extension comes after the commission received over 400,000 applications and discovered significant disparities in participation across states. While states like Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded high application numbers, others including Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra lagged behind.
The PSC said the decision was made to ensure equitable representation across the country and urged eligible citizens, especially those in states with lower participation, to take advantage of the extended deadline.
In the statement, the commission called on state governments, local councils, religious and community leaders, and other stakeholders to mobilize eligible Nigerians and encourage them to apply through the official portal.
The PSC reiterated its commitment to conducting a fair and transparent recruitment process, assuring the public that the extension is part of efforts to broaden participation and strengthen national policing.
