Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has condemned the vandalism of the Festac-Alakija Bridge, directing security agencies to arrest and prosecute those responsible.
Sanwo-Olu, in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, described the incident as “barbaric and criminal,” warning that the state would not tolerate attacks on critical public infrastructure.
The governor said an inspection by officials of the Office of Infrastructure confirmed that the bridge remained structurally sound despite the damage.
He added that immediate remedial work would be carried out to protect the affected bridge columns and prevent further deterioration.
Sanwo-Olu warned that anyone found culpable would face the law, while urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities around public infrastructure to security agencies.
