Tinubu Approves Five New Permanent Secretaries to Fill Vacancies in Federal Civil Service

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of five new permanent secretaries to fill existing vacancies in the federal civil service, the Federal Ministry of Information said in a press release.

The ministry named the appointees as Ibrahim Abdulkarim Ozi for the Federal Capital Territory; Ezemama John Chidiebere for Imo State; Garba Abdul Sule Usman for the North Central geopolitical zone; Mohammed Musa Ishiyaku for the North East; and Ukaire Binyerem Chigbowu for the South East. The statement said the appointments are intended to strengthen public service delivery and support the government’s development agenda.

The head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, lauded the selections as reflecting the administration’s commitment to “transparency, meritocracy, and professionalism” and congratulated the new appointees. The ministry said the choices followed a “rigorous and transparent selection process.”

Officials from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service had in September announced the commencement of the selection process for five permanent-secretary slots, a step officials described at the time as part of efforts to refill key leadership positions across ministries, departments and agencies.

The appointees will assume duties once official postings and deployment letters are issued, and the ministry said it expects them to “bring a wealth of experience and expertise” to their roles as the administration continues institutional reforms.
