Tinubu Pledges to Continue Siemens Deal, Fund Ten Mobile Power Stations

President Bola Tinubu says the federal government will fund the construction of 10 additional mobile power stations to help boost electricity across the country.

He announced this on Monday while meeting a delegation from Siemens Energy at the State House in Abuja.

The team was led by Dietmar Siersdorfer, Siemens Energy’s Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa.

Tinubu said the partnership with Siemens under the Presidential Power Initiative remains a top priority for his administration, explaining that more electricity is needed to drive industries, improve public services, and raise living standards.

“We are going to find ways to fund the additional ten mobile stations,” he said.

“Education, healthcare, transportation, and other sectors depend on stable electricity. We must achieve this if we want real economic recovery.”

Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu said Siemens has already delivered 10 mobile substations and several transformers, adding 984 megawatts to the national grid.

Two of five new substations under Phase One should be completed by late 2026.

He added that the next phase will involve 16 more substations nationwide, with a total impact of more than 4,000 megawatts.

Finance Minister Wale Edun said the project will improve the ease of doing business, create jobs, and reduce poverty.

Siemens Energy noted that work is moving smoothly and a new training centre was being set up to develop local engineers and transfer technology.
